HR365: December 2022
January 1, 2023
Because Homelessness is a Violation of Human Rights, AHCH's Friday series on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, #HumanRights365, aims to remind everyone that each one of us, everywhere, at all times, is entitled to the full range of human rights, that human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together. Because ending homelessness is about demanding basic human rights and guaranteeing social justice, the decision to use social media as a tool to advance the recognition of a person, a partner organization, or a topic that upholds the fundamental proposition in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations became a weekly series. Our weekly series features Human Rights activists and pioneers.
Check out some of our favorite AHCH #HR365 posts from December 2022! Stay tuned for monthly blog updates on this series, follow our social channels and the hashtag #HR365!

Human Rights Day throwback from past years' events!
Human Rights Day is on December 10, in observance of the day the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
This year’s Human Rights Day theme is "Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All". We will reach our common global goals only if we are able to create equal opportunities for all and apply human rights standards to tackle entrenched, systematic, and intergenerational inequalities, exclusion and discrimination.
AHCH will be recognizing #HumanRightsDay today with an all-staff event including guest speakers and activities. Big thanks to the planning committee!

We continue our #HR365 UDHR spot by taking a closer look at Article 25 and the idea of health care as a human right.
Health is generally considered to be our most essential asset, yet it is still not fully treated as a human right. Let's examine further...

Housing is a proven requirement for optimal health, and both are human rights. In this week's #HR365 we're opening the doors to the history, theory and reality of housing as a human right.
Special thanks to United Nations Human Rights and National Low Income Housing Coalition for helping with this week's post.

None of the other rights we've covered this month would be relevant without the ultimate human right, freedom. Tomorrow marks the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, so today's #HR365 spotlight turns to the history of this historical human rights document.
Special thanks to @usnatarchives for the great info that helped make today's post.
