December ArtStreet Offerings

Check out all of the ArtStreet offerings for the month of December! Class descriptions are outlined below.

Open Studio: Mondays & Tuesdays 11am-4pm

Two days a week, for 5 hours each, the studio space is open to individuals who want to work independently on projects they are interested in. Staff are always available to help with inspiration or questions about art media.

Get it Out! Therapy Group, Wednesday 12-2pm

This is a visual journaling art therapy group aimed at self-reflection and exploration. Join us as we challenge inner dialogues and embrace the process, not the product of art-making.

Pottery Group: Thursdays 10am-1pm

Explore the world of ceramics using fun prompts to learn hand building, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques. Our in-house kiln means that projects can be fired easily.

Sewing Club: Thursdays 2-4pm

This is a community sewing group where people of different skill levels work in various areas of textile creation, including hand sewing, machine sewing, fabric dying, clothing alterations.

Self Care Group: Fridays 9:30-11:30am

This skill-building group helps individuals flex their selfcare muscles through exploration in various hobbies, coping strategies, and boundary-setting techniques in a supportive group environment.

Memorial Workshop: Friday, Dec. 1

Making signs to hold for the memorial vigil that takes place on Dec. 21.

Lampshade Workshop Pt. 1 & 2

Experience the joy of making light-up art by building/decorating lamps and shades in this two-part series taking place on Friday, Dec. 8 and Friday, Dec. 15 from 12-2pm.

Letting Go Ceremony: Dec. 29

As the year comes to a close, we want to experience the therapeutic act of mentally letting go of anything that we don’t wish to take with us into 2024. The activity itself is a ceramics decorating and breaking process.

For all of our classes, please come in anytime before 3:15pm to ensure adequate time for art creation.

Capacity: 20 people.

ArtStreet is a community art studio accessible to all artists regardless of their housing status. Through our Open Art Studios, Therapeutic Art-Based Groups, Art-Focused Outreach and Multiple Art Shows and Selling Events, we provide artists with an opportunity to grow as individuals and art makers in the community. ArtStreet focuses on using art as a way of building community, self-efficacy and self-sufficiency. ArtStreet gives artists a common forum to share their experiences, create art, and increase awareness of issues of homelessness.

ArtStreet projects are made possible, in part, by funding from the City of Albuquerque Urban Enhancement Trust Fund and by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
